Jerry York
. Effective July 1, Jerry York, freshman hockey coach at Clarkson, became head
coach, replacing Len Ceglarski. (See page 438) A graduate of Boston College, York was
captain of his hockey team and All-American in 1967. He led his team in scoring in both his
junior and senior years, and was fifth in scoring at BC with 64 goals and 70 assists in 81 games.
As a junior he scored five goals against Providence. Following the 1967 season at Boston
College, York was a member of the US National Team.
Chemistry Award.
Dr. Egon Matijević became the third Clarkson professor to receive the
Kendall Award from the American Chemical Society. This is the highest national prize in
chemistry, and is presented yearly to an American or Canadian scientist in recognition of
outstanding scientific achievement in the field of colloid or surface chemistry. Dr. Stephen
Brunauer had received the award in 1961 and Dr. Milton Kerker in 1971. No other college has
had more than one recipient on its faculty.
