each Greek social organization. Among them were the application of the same rules to Greeks
living in fraternities and sororities that applied to dormitory residents.
One of the strengths of this new policy lay in the financial management of the Greek
houses: collecting bills, receiving loans, and taking care of emergency funding. This new policy
outlined how the fraternities and sororities were obligated to Clarkson, and what the
University's obligations were in return. Each Greek organization was given a calendar year to
achieve full recognition status.
Sports.
A 2-1 soccer victory over St. Lawrence in October brought the President's Cup back to
Campus. That cup goes to the winner of the round-robin series between Clarkson, St.
Lawrence, and Potsdam State. The team went on to defeat others, including the University of
Rochester 1-0, Plattsburgh State in double overtime 2-1, and ended the season with split
victories at the ECAC Division 3 Championship at Binghamton, winning over Hobart 3-2, but
losing the championship to Alfred 2-1. Their season record was 12-5-1.
The Golden Knight hockey team opened its season against Toronto whose 6-0 record
was blemished by this 4-4 tie with Clarkson.
UNICEF Halloween Party.
Beta Tau fraternity, in conjunction with Physics Professor Jim
Robertson, Alger's Pub, Morgan's, A.J. Missert Inc., and the Genesee Brewery, held a costume
party on Halloween night at Alger's Pub with all the proceeds going to UNICEF.
On Wednesday evening, November 4, a 10-kilometer fun run began at 1 p.m. in front of
the Beta Tau house on Bay Street. Prof. Robertson agreed to compete against all who entered
the race, donating 25 cents to UNICEF for each minute he was beaten by the field.
